Weekend monochrome

Taxis line up for the start of the NYC Taxi Formula One race - not really.
They were at the lights ready to go as soon as they got a green.

Olympus XA on HP5 film.

Looking at this shot reminds of my college swim meets when I would hear: “Swimmers take your mark, get set, GO! And the gun would fire!” It really does appear the taxis are at the starting line for a race. I really like this shot. It is truly a classic in my mind. genie

I can hear their engines revving, ready to tear up the road.

Yes they do look lined up for a ready set go. By the way I didn't realize you were in the UK. Nice to get the U.S. perspective from your point of view!

Nice catch John. I thought Race before I read your words. You've got a good eye.

The lighting on the buildings in the background makes a wonderful tone contrast with the features of the taxis!

Very neat image - lots of good tonal range and wonderful story line.

My first impression was of the start of a race. Fun shot.

Which probably is some sort of daily race!

Heh, it does look like they are lining up for a race, doesn't it? I like the modern taxi in the foreground.

Could not find an EM for you, John; profile does not indicate one... thus, answering your questions about "native" flower (orchid) - not, not native to Alaska. I know people who grow them. The photo I posted was taken in Wisconsin (by an unshaded window, which gave the black background). Pretty much SOOC. A happy accident for me! Smiles. I know your love for cameras and I am researching to get a good macro. Cheers - I always enjoy your posts and blog, as I have said before. Bye for now. kareninkenai

They probably did drag one another off when the lights turned green
