Monochrome Weekly

This is one of a couple of shots that I took in a little eating/drinking spot in one of the side-streets in the old part of Barcelona. The proprietor is hanging up one of his fantastic legs of dried ham that the city is known for.

Taken with the little Olympus XA with FP4 film.

More monochrome here.

You have a knack for capturing these thoroughly enchanting and entertaining slices of everyday life! It's great to be able to get these glimpses of the world through your eyes, thanks John!

Lovely shot John. FP4 is a great film. Pity it costs too much in the US these days. I'm down to my last 4 rolls.

I have an Olympus Stylus Epic that I used to carry with me all the time. I've taken some of my best images with that little guy.

That looks like a fun place with lots of culture and charm. Nice shot especially shooting into the lighted doorway.

Quite a study in contrasts!

Oh this is a nice one. The light behind the man sitting on the chair draws the eye, together with all the details in the shot it really makes it a great b&wh subject.

Nice interior shot. I like that a little bit of the outside is visible.

Great image! I visited a place like that in Alicante last year. Bought some delicious ham .... I like to go make, indeed!

Oh my. I am betting that ham is something like our sugar cured ham. Wow. It makes my mouth water to just think about it.

It is a nice look at a part of the world and lifestyle so many of us will never see. I consider myself fortunate to have been sent to the Far East and to sleep on Iwo Jima and get on top of Mt Surabachi and then cover most of Japan is two and a half years.

I was acquainted with a a photographer and writer who worked for Stars and Stripes and some of his work was phenomenal.

I will have a new post on my Pick a Peck of Pixels blog on Sunday.

It could only work as well as it does in monochrome. Visually it is like a book full of interesting and enticing thoughts. A War and Peace of a photograph.
